The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) of the Jefferson Parish Housing Program will be conducting an open house on Tuesday, November 29th at 10:00 a.m., at the Community Center located at 1718 Betty Street in Marrero for current Section 8 and Public Housing tenants.

SAN ANTONIO – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced settlements with two landlords for failing to warn their tenants that their homes may contain potentially dangerous lead paint. The San Antonio property owners have agreed to make 15 properties containing 33 total units lead safe. In addition to performing $84,000 in lead paint hazard remediation work, the landlords have agreed to pay $6,000 in civil penalties and $20,000 in Child Health Improvement Projects (CHIPs).

Partnership sets forth 6 'livability principles' to coordinate policy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan, and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson announced an interagency Partnership for Sustainable Communities to help improve access to affordable housing, more transportation options, and lower transportation costs while protecting the environment in communities nationwide. Testifying together at a Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee hearing chaired by U.S. Senator Christopher J. Dodd, Secretary LaHood, Secretary Donovan and Administrator Jackson outlined the six guiding 'livability principles' they will use to coordinate federal transportation, environmental protection, and housing investments at their respective agencies.
